Sumy's Intellectual Meter Data Management System (SiMDMs)

High level Architecture of Sumy SiMDMs

Sumy designs the intellectual Meter Data Management System (SiMDMs) based on the requirements of Indian Utilities. This single, unified system consolidates metering data management business processes. Its comprehensive set of tools enables utilities to address traditional utility use cases, such as meter-to-cash billing data. Additionally, it also addresses emerging use cases that leverage register, interval, and time-of-use IoT device data to support a variety of mission-critical enterprise applications. In addition, SiMDMs offers an analytics environment based on state-of-the-art technologyand advanced analytics applications to leverage more value from the existing data.

SiMDMs is data repository aggregation and analytical tool.

Dashboard of SiMDMs can be customised as per the needs of Utility

Modules of SiMDMs:

  • Head End System to collect the Meter data at pre-defined intervals.
  • Data Repository
  • Calculations, Aggregations and Analytics.
    • Load forecasting
    • Load Control and Load Limitation
  • Remote Disconnection/ Reconnection
  • Reports:
    • Ad-Hoc or Self-Service Reports
    • Predefined reports
  • Event/Alarms
  • Load Management
  • SMDM Dashboard

SMDAs:

Sumy’s Meter Data Acquisition system (SMDAs) of SiMDMs facilitates the following meter parameters:

  • Load profile capture period
  • Demand integration period
  • Setting of parameters for time of day (TOD/TOU) billing
  • Prepaid function
  • Net metering
  • Billing date
  • Clock setting/time synchronization.
  • Load curtailment limit
  • Event setting for connect/disconnect
  • Number of auto reconnection attempt
  • Time interval between auto reconnection attempt
  • Lock out period for relay
  • Remote firmware upgrade
  • Password setting
  • Push schedule
  • Setting threshold limits for monitored parameters
  • Provision for adding more programming features in future

Reports:

Sumy has designed the standard reports as per the major utility’s requirement such as:

  • Daily data collection report
  • Usage exceptions
  • VEE validation failures
  • Missing interval Read date and times (on hourly, daily, weekly & monthly basis)
  • Physical meter events (install, remove, connect, disconnect) & meter reset report
  • Meter flags
  • Meter inventory
  • defective meters
  • AMI performance measurements
  • Threshold Exception
  • Any Customized report as per need

Events /Alarms:

SiMDMs can list the tampering events as per Zone, DT and individual meters.Following are the list of events along with date and time stamp that are supported by SiMDMs:

  • Terminal Cover
  • Case Open Detection
  • Natural Disturbance
  • Magnetic Interference
  • Injecting AC/DC High Frequency / Current Signal in Neutral
  • Under/Over Voltage and Over Current.

Analytics:

SiMDMs supports following Analytic reports by default, however more can be customised as per the Utilities Requirement.

  • Display consumption/load profiles by configurable period (15/30 min, hour, day, month, year etc.) day type (weekday, weekend, holiday, festival wise etc.) and by tariff, customer type, or any user specified collection of meters.
  • Generate peak and off-peak load patterns by aggregating all loads of DT/feeder/consumer group.
  • Performs DT/feeder wise energy audit. Performs load analysis for different groups and categories of consumers.
  • Has ability to provide the data to load forecasting, load research or demand response applications. Also performs error management like – missed reads and intermittent meter reads before taking into forecasting, load research or demand response.
  • Has ability to configure the system to effectively visualize consumption trends, identify unusual patterns and visualize load analysis to understand which assets are being over utilized.
  • Analyses data to identify new patterns of usage, setting fraud alert / transformer overload alerts / demand – supply gap alert, etc.
  • Has ability to receive and store outage and restoration event data from smart meters and outage systems and to log all such events for analysis.
